Getaround connects safe, convenient, and affordable cars with people who need them to live and work. Our community includes guests who rely on our cars for on-demand mobility and hosts who share cars on our platform including those who operate their own car-sharing businesses.

Our connected car technology allows guests to book and unlock a wide variety of vehicles directly from our app without ever having to meet anyone in person, carry an access card, wait in line, or coordinate picking up keys. Cars are parked 22 hours a day on average. When we share cars, we don’t need as many on the road, which means fewer accidents, reduced traffic, and less space required for parking. Car sharing modernizes mobility by allowing people to connect multiple forms of efficient transportation for any type of use case.

Studies have shown that when car sharing is available, people drive less and drive vehicles more appropriate for their use case, which can reduce household carbon emissions by up to 40%. Also, shared cars are used more frequently and retired more quickly, accelerating the adoption of newer, more energy- efficient vehicles.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Front End Engineer at Getaround, you are eager to ship beautiful, modern Web interfaces for our industry-leading platform. Working closely with creative, product, and your colleagues in engineering, you will build and maintain high-quality experiences for our web products. You will build new experiences with Typescript in a React/Redux stack, with a growing set of developer tools built for maximum low-stress productivity. Joining the team today means you’ll make a big impact, establishing best practices that will define the way we build our product for years to come.

What You'll Do

• Develop innovative client-side applications for the web (desktop & mobile) for Hosts, Guests and internal users
• Participate in reimagining core product flows and designs
• Take full ownership and lead projects: architect, implement, and deploy
• Provide continuous improvements to web architecture, performance, quality
• Improve the team and company – mentor, interview, and build team culture

What You'll Bring

• Has developed and shipped complex features for several modern, client-side applications
• High attention to detail and product quality
• Track record of taking initiative in constantly improving patterns & best practices
• Expertise with modern JavaScript patterns, including ES6+, functional programming patterns, and Promises
• Mastery over core areas of web development (e.g. DOM, CSS specificity, rendering bottlenecks, patterns for performant network access, data modeling, asynchronous programming, etc.)

• Samples of personal or professional front-end web development work, demonstrating an ability to make high-quality web experiences
• Experience working with React, Redux, and TypeScript
