**About the Role **

We are looking for a Benefits Specialist, who is a subject matter expert in our company's benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, and 401k), compliance, and LOA’s. You will guide all new employees through benefits enrollment, as well as facilitate open enrollment for the entire company. You will own projects as they relate to compliance, and routinely audit our HRIS. Additionally, you will work closely with our payroll & accounts payable team members to ensure accuracy in regards to benefits-related deductions.

The ideal candidate is focused and detail oriented, yet flexible and patient in collaborating with our internal team members to ensure benefits compliance. You will be instrumental in educating our employees about our benefits, as well as partnering with senior leadership to guarantee we offer competitive benefits packages. You approach your work with intellectual curiosity and creative problem solving to support the People team with all benefits related matters.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Own new hire enrollment in medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance and 401(k).
• Own and project plan company-wide open enrollment.
• Manage all leaves of absences internally and update management accordingly.
• Build and manage the day to day work with our benefits brokers.
• Support the implementation of new plans, programs and any changes to plans in our HRIS system.
• Educate our leaders on compliance, existing/new benefits, policies and processes as needed.
• Evaluate and compare our existing benefits programs with those of other employers through research, analysis of other plans, survey data, etc.
• Audit and update our HRIS to maintain continuous accuracy throughout the year.
• Work closely with the accounting department to ensure benefits deductions are correct.
• Perform tasks related to compliance, which includes preparing reports & filings required by state and federal agencies.
• Test systems and interfaces, perform reconciliations, run reports, and conduct analyses for processes and special projects.
• Work with Vendors and Accounting on accurate payment processing.
• Continuously review processes to make sure we are performing optimally and efficiently.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with benefits and 401(k) compliance.
• Subject matter expert in benefits, which includes new hire enrollment, open enrollment, 401k, and LOA’s.
• Previous experience managing leave of absence.
• Previous experience using an HRIS in a benefits capacity required.
• PHR certification preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel.
• Experience working in a work environment with both hourly & salaried employees.
• Previous experience working at a start-up is a plus.
• Excellent collaborative skills with the ability to communicate proactively and cultivate strong relationships with employees at all levels of the company.
• Must have the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion, and work in a hybrid team environment.
