Jane is looking for a Cloud Data Engineer to supplement the existing database members. This person will be expected to be knowledgeable and experienced in maintaining ecommerce-type database systems, including relational and NoSQL database technologies. We are seeking a highly-motivated individual with experience in performance tuning, disaster recovery, and scaling in a cloud environment. You will also assist developer’s in the use of cloud data technologies like S3 and DynamoDB.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Sharing responsibilities with building, configuring, and maintaining SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other RDBMS and NoSQL platforms within the AWS cloud environment.
• Work closely with teams in developing, debugging, and deploying database code and other processes that interact with databases.
• Ensure data quality and establish best practices across data infrastructure.
• Share in database on-call responsibilities.
• Deliver clean, scalable, maintainable code and monitoring.
• Be passionate and hungry to learn and succeed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems/CS/Engineering or equivalent experience
• 4+ years monitoring and administering cloud technologies.
• Experienced in database deployment pipelines (ex: SQL projects, Liquibase, TeamCity, Jenkins)
• Experienced in maintaining uptime in an eCommerce-style environment (disaster-recovery, rolling updates, etc)
• Experience with AWS, including DynamoDB, S3, and Postgres
• SQL Server experience
• Desire to work in a collaborative Agile environment solving problems as part of a team
• Experienced in performance tuning (ex: execution plans, indexes, query optimization)
• Great problem-solving skills and the ability to break down large problems, gather requirements, appropriately scope, and break down into actionable steps

Bonus Qualifications:

• ETL and Data Warehouse experience (SSIS, Airflow, Redshift)
• Experience in scripting languages (Python, Powershell)
• Experience in Linux
• Bash scripting experience
