Jane is seeking a Director of PR & Communications to own and implement the overall communications strategy for the company. As Jane transitions to a traditional marketplace, the Director of PR & Communications will be responsible for telling the Jane story to Janesters, sellers, partners, customers and the broader community. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this individual will be accountable for corporate communications including media relations, internal communications, executive thought leadership, seller communications, crisis communications and event strategy. In addition, this role is responsible for Jane’s corporate giving program, Jane for Good.

Responsibilities

  • Media Relations

  • Determine media priorities and provide direction for proactive and reactive interactions with the press

  • Develop media campaigns that generate coverage and tell the Jane story

  • Manage Jane’s PR agency to effectively deliver on earned media coverage

  • Write press releases when warranted

  • Host media events as appropriate

  • **Executive Communications **

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the senior leadership team

  • Profile and position Jane executives as experts in their field through public speaking opportunities, award submissions and media opportunities

  • Provide appropriate executive support for all public engagements

  • Internal Communications

  • Develop, implement and manage a comprehensive internal communications strategy for the company.

  • Support the People Operations and Executive teams in their goal of establishing Jane as an employer of choice.

  • Lead the creation and execution of the internal Monthly Internal Newsletter and the CEO’s monthly Top of Mind email.

  • Seller Communication

  • Oversee communications strategies and tactics aimed at education, updating and engaging Jane sellers. This includes delivering a bi-weekly seller newsletter, updating the seller community, coordinating quarterly webinars, assisting the seller team with messaging etc.

  • Jane for Good

  • Oversee the overall strategic development of Jane for Good and all marketing/communication initiatives around the program.

  • Select appropriate partners, negotiate associated contracts, work with marketing, creative and finance to ensure all contractual obligations are met. Partner with the People Operations team to ensure each partnership includes an employee engagement component.

  • Oversee donation requests from community organizations

  • Event Management

  • From time-to-time assist with event activations around Jane for Good or other communications initiatives.

Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree in communications, Marketing or related field.
  • 10+ years communications experience.
  • Extensive list of media contacts.
  • Awareness of and proficiency with communications technologies.
  • Experience in stakeholder/community engagement.
  • Clear and concise communication with team members and senior management.
  • Strong and confident leadership.
  • Strong writing skills
  • Able to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Thrive at building relationships and working collaboratively with teams across the company
  • Ability to move seamlessly between high-level strategy and high-quality execution.
  • Strong personal communication skills
