We are seeking a senior counsel with experience supporting teams that design and manufacture hardware to support the Lime teams that lead the manufacture of Lime’s scooters, bikes, and other new hardware. The successful candidate will also have experience advising on product liability issues, as a critical element of this role will be to mitigate Lime’s exposure to product hardware risk issues.

The senior counsel report directly to the Deputy General Counsel for Product and work closely with cross-functional teams as a thought partner to shape a comprehensive product protection and risk mitigation strategy throughout the life cycle of our hardware products, and design and operationalize legal operations in these areas.

We are a remote first company and welcome applications from anywhere we operate in the United States, with preference for NYC, Chicago, California, or DC.

What You'll Do:

• Work closely with our Engineering, Product and Design, and Trust and Safety teams to help ensure our products are safe, reliable, and comply with legal requirements
• Lead contract negotiations with hardware manufacturers and software providers
• Develop policies and tools to help scale Lime’s hardware development process
• Collaborate with Lime’s Litigation and Claims teams to mitigate product liability risk for Lime, and provide strategic advice and assistance with product liability cases
• Address legal risks in business-centric ways by developing strategies to solve problems, while strengthening partnerships and business objectives

About You:

• Have a JD/law degree and bar admission in at least one state or jurisdiction
• Have 8+ years relevant experience at a firm or in-house, with in-house experience working closely with product teams at leading technology companies highly valued
• Be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, comfortable with ambiguity, and enjoy working hard and being continually challenged

• Demonstrate the ability to provide timely, practical, business-friendly advice to clients with minimal supervision;
• Possess strong analytical and strategic skills
• Be able to drive issues to a quick resolution that factors in many non-legal variables, such as brand-risk, communications, government relations, tax, insurance, finance and other business units
• Have a high degree of professional ethics and integrity
• Anticipate risks and proactively build the processes and systems to mitigate them

In accordance with Colorado State Law, if the candidate selected for this job resides in Colorado, the anticipated minimum salary will be $153,000 plus bonus and equity (when eligible) as well as benefits. Exact salary will ultimately depend on the candidate’s qualifications. In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for a variable bonus based on a combination of management discretion and employee performance.
