One Concern’s Solutions Team is seeking a curious, resourceful and creative solutions data analytics consultant who thrives on rapid prototyping breaking down complex business challenges from customers and solving them using cross- disciplinary engineering and data analysis skills. You will be challenged daily to identify emerging value propositions by looking at market trends and by translating customer needs using One Concern’s core technology. This role is highly cross-disciplinary and requires an ability to achieve buy-in from internal stakeholders on customer needs, work with internal or external experts , synthesize and present results to internal teams and clients, as well as communicate methods, validations, and limitations to these stakeholders. As such, experience working as a B2B industry client facing data scientist, engineer, builder, or analyst is required. You will form strong relationships internally with various executives and stakeholders across our HQ and offices in the US and Japan and external clients. Your direct report line is a Solution Team Lead.

One Concern Japan is a small and growing team that has a startup mentality and is the frontline for One Concern’s efforts in Japan. Japan is a strong market for One Concern. As a Solution Data Analytics Consultant, you will be one of the key early members of this team reporting and dotted the reporting line to the Japan Country Manager. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that our service delivery to our clients in Japan to achieve their business goals through delivering our services by collaborating with the US Solution team members and also the other members of the Japan team. This person will also have opportunities to help build out a professional service delivery function for One Concern Japan.

Experience and Qualifications

• BS + MS in Engineering/Science/Finance required
• Experiences as a data analytics consultant in the area of financial risk analytics/management and/or climate change adaptation strongly preferred
• Working experiences for risk management companies (e.g. subsidiaries of P&C insurers, Big4 advisory practice, Re-insurers, Brokers, etc.) preferred
• Certified P&C actuary is a big plus
• Expertise in physics-based/geospatial modeling preferred
• Experiences in Data Science / AI / Machine Learning / Statistical Modeling preferred3-5 years of data science experience1-2 years of client-facing consultant experience.
• Experience working with Fortune 500 level multinational Japanese customers, banking, or insurance customers to independently conceptualize and build analytical solutions
• Entrepreneurial, creative, and innovative mindset for identifying new opportunities and scrappy approaches to solve complex problems
• Strong attention to detail, ownership and accountability in his or her work
• Experience rapidly prototyping interdisciplinary high-fidelity proof-of-concepts.

Responsibilities

• Independently drive innovative data analysis from the ground-up using internal and external data sources and work with Solutions team members and other internal members to create client-ready materials
• Support pre-sales and post-sales efforts to deliver an analysis on our platform to solve client business problems related to resilience, mitigation ROI and prioritization using One Concern technology and explain analyses, methods, validations, and limitations to clients
• Conduct quantitative research and business analysis for new opportunities and markets alongside the Solutions Architect and Business Team. Examples include sustainability projects to assess the tie between emissions reduction and increased resilience, data-as-a-service initiatives for the financial sector, etc.
• Keep up to date on the latest data engineering architectures and data science models, methods and validation methodologies by interacting routinely with Engineering and Data Science teams.
• Travel to clients and support Solutions Architects, business development reps and Customer Success to field technical questions and provide details on our technical solutions. You will be the customer-facing representative of our technology teams.
