As an engineer in the Platform team, you will provide technical input for an organization that is responsible for reliable operation, engineering, and evolution of Presto’s cloud technologies. You will have the opportunity to work on creating a near-infinitely scalable platform system that Presto can bet it’s future on. All this while balancing feature velocity with reliability, cost efficiency and partnering with a wide and diverse set of teams.

Responsibilities will include:

• Create and lead innovative programs, software, and analytics that drive improvements to the availability, scalability, efficiency, and latency of Presto’s Services
• Work in close partnership with engineering and product leads across multiple areas, to build fast, reliable, and durable production systems.
• Work in tandem with senior stakeholders to define and execute technical strategy and improve technical processes and decisions.
• Recognize, validate and evangelize emerging technologies and architectures that align with business objectives.
• Coach/mentor technical junior engineers on design principles.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience leading and implementing engineering projects
• Experience with large-scale system design, algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and software design.
• Experience working with automation in critical production environments, ensuring their reliability.
• Deep understanding of application development, Infrastructure provisioning, and capacity planning
• Capable of technical deep-dives into code, databases, operating systems, storage, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems
• Hands-on experience in building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems. Experience maintaining infrastructure as code is a plus.
