QuantumScape is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team to support the design and development of new and modified equipment for R&D and high-volume manufacturing.
We are a energy storage technology company, located in San Jose, California working on a fundamental disruption in the field of energy storage. We seek to change the paradigm in energy storage by developing a completely new class of electrical energy storage device. If successful, the technology could revolutionize the industry! You will work in concert with other specialists and scientists and will be responsible for driving and completing assigned projects through all stages of the design process, including specification, design, prototyping, assembly and testing.
Job Description:
Conceptualize and develop mechanical designs as part of a larger design team.
Collect information and feedback from scientists and design team members to fully understand design specifications.
Lead design review meetings to fully vet current designs and to quickly drive design maturity to a level where parts can be ordered.
Build prototype designs to validate design intent and fit.
Required Education and Experience:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field preferably MS in Mechanical Engineer
Key Technical Qualifications:
Experience with mechanism, hardware, and/or equipment design
Proven knowledge of component manufacturing (machining, 3D printing, sheet metal forming)
Proficient with 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
Experience with basic machine shop equipment (mill, lathe, drill press, etc.)
Additional Qualifications:
High level of creativity and energy with a proven capability to innovate
A strong passion for mechanical design and working with your hands
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong project management skills and an ability to drive multiple projects to forward at the same time
Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with an autonomous working style
