We’re looking for a dedicated Technical Program Manager to join our team. In this role, you will join a team helping QuantumScape be responsible for the construction of engineering and prototype production lines, develop and install manufacturing production equipment, and develop processes to produce our ceramic films and assemble cells. Our ambitions are to produce cells at volumes relevant to the EV industry, so our pilot lines need to demonstrate not only our cell technology but our ability to cost-effectively scale production to GWh levels. This is a complex endeavor requiring close coordination of multiple internal teams and outside vendors including Construction, Facilities, EH&S, Machine Design, Process Development, New Product Introduction, Technology Systems, and Finance teams.
Responsibilities:
A Technical Program Manager will be part of a team within QuantumScape that addresses the following tasks:
Ability to lead a project from conceptual idea, through research and development, through process design, equipment design, prototype build, proof of concept, to finalized equipment for mass production.
Works with Manufacturing Hardware Engineering team and Research and Development teams plus outside vendors to develop and deliver customized film and cell assembly tooling.
Works with IT, Controls team, and outside vendors to implement SCADA and MES for facilities and manufacturing tools.
Assists with planning of film and cell new product introduction testing activities.
Ability to carry out the coordinated organization, direction, and implementation of a collection of projects and transformation activities to achieve outcomes and realize benefits of strategic importance to the business.
Provide support to implement the strategy of continuous improvements for key customer and financial metrics by handling key programs and projects, communicating progress, calling out barriers, and clear and timely communication to team members.
Complete work with little to no guidance and direction, where typical assignments have a high to difficult level of complexity which involves unstructured and ambiguous situations.
Strong organizational skills (planning, prioritizing) and communication skills (written, verbal, listening) are essential to this position, as is the ability to successfully adapt to a diverse group of people and situations, handle conflict, proactively resolve issues, and complete assignments on time.
Mentor junior project engineers, project managers, and program managers on standard methodologies and lessons learned.
Managing and controlling of all project documentation including design, specifications, creating Request for Proposal (RFP’s), monitoring and control vendor progress, issuing corrective actions if delays are experienced, etc.
Controlling and handling of project documentation including request for information (RFI), drawing/design packages, design change narratives (DCN), etc.
Creating and maintaining project schedule of the entire scope of the project(s) including all related multi-functional departments.
Tracking the critical path of the project including recovery schedules and areas of schedule improvement.
Leading and directing project meetings applying all necessary related project documentation such as the following: schedule, budget, meeting minutes, installation procedures, etc.
Analyzing potential risks and performing risk management procedures to minimize project risks and exploit project opportunities.
Creating daily or weekly project reports including major highlights, schedule updates, current project status, critical path, issues, risks, or lessons learned, and next action plans for working groups and executive staff.
Develop and evolve project management systems and project documentation plus provide feedback on process improvement opportunities.
Other duties as assigned.
Communication/Collaboration:
Ability to flex working/communication style, and adapt by leader/team, to enhance collaboration.
Coordinate and facilitate alignment meetings by ensuring meetings are conducted on a defined cadence and with a set agenda, collaborate with leaders to build presentations, set up and facilitate meetings, publish actions and ensure timely closure.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering disciple, or other related fields.
5+ years of experience as a project or program manager in hardware development, manufacturing, or process improvement projects.
Experience and exposure to Manufacturing equipment used in the Semi-conductor, ceramic, or battery manufacturing industries with at least 1 year of high- volume manufacturing experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills when dealing with individuals across the organization and with external customers or vendors.
Experience working with an international community, especially with overseas customers, suppliers, and researchers who are non-native English speakers.
Ability to lead multiple, fluid priorities and proactively address business demands in a fast-paced environment.
Able to communicate effectively with management and co-workers to promote strong working relationships and create an environment focused on collaboration.
Must have the ability to learn quickly, work autonomously, and address any issues that arise day or night.
Demonstrated ability to solve sophisticated technical problems with limited information.
Program Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent or Agile Program Management experience is a plus.
