The Public Programs Team at Seven Bridges brings together diverse team members who possess a unique balance of technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills. As a Community Associate, you will lead engagements with individuals and small groups to share the benefits of using Seven Bridges platforms with a wide range of researchers including genomics scientists, bioinformatics tool developers, clinicians, and course instructors. Examples of platforms include, but are not limited to, the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Genomics Cloud and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s BioData Catalyst.

Fundamentally, Community Associates are strong, empathetic communicators and teachers who excel at engaging researchers and tool developers. As a Community Associate you will provide advanced user support and continually engage researchers. With your expertise and a curious mind, you will guide researchers through the Seven Bridges platforms, matching functionality to their needs. You will continually seek user feedback so that Seven Bridges platforms continue to improve in a user-centric way.

What you'll be doing:

  • Become an expert user of the Seven Bridges platforms and train others to do the same.
  • Engage with users of Seven Bridges platforms, understand their research questions, and help them successfully carry out their studies.
  • Grow the Seven Bridges user base by building strong connections through repeat engagements.
  • Assist with training sessions for user groups ranging from 5 users to 100 users.
  • Collaborate with Seven Bridges Support to provide bespoke service.

Do you have what it takes?

  • BS + 2 years of relevant industry experience or MS (MS, MPH, etc.) with a focus in genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, engineering, health economics, public health, or related disciplines.
  • Excellent communications skills applicable to a wide audience that includes users, researchers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting experiments including one or more:
  • analyzing -omics data (i.e. RNA-seq, Exome-seq, ChIP-seq, proteomics, etc.)
  • analyzing radiographic image data (i.e. CT, ECG, MRI, etc.)
  • analyzing relevant population scale data (i.e. health economics, geospatial data, population clinical data, etc.)
  • Enthusiasm for teaching others and making highly technical concepts accessible to a wide audience.

It would be great if you had;

  • Ability to help colleagues troubleshoot problems.
  • Ability to program in R, Python, and/or SAS.
  • Knowledge of the clinical applications of genomics in heart, lung, blood, sleep, or other therapeutic areas and understanding of the challenges researchers face when integrating genomics into clinical workflows.
  • Experience with large scale -omics, image, or phenotypic data processing on the cloud and/or high-performance computing.
  • Familiarity with workflow languages (CWL, WDL, NextFlow, Snakemake, etc)
