As a member of our Data Harmonization Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to extend our platform, build innovative tools and products, and be involved in designing new and custom solutions. You will have the opportunity to extend our platform and be involved in building the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and various ‘big data’ technologies.

In this role, you will use your experience in cloud native data centric technologies and will be working on the latest big data, cloud technologies, and development methodologies involving cloud computing, NoSQL databases, security, encryption, data movement in order to help us leverage data to deliver critical capabilities. You will be working as a member of a new scrum team based in Boston, MA and will collaborate closely with our development teams in Europe. This position can also be remote or hybrid.

What you'll be working on

• Architect a scalable frontend platform that consists of multiple services, which are deployed on multiple environments and is highly customizable based on the client's needs
• Architecting and analyzing very large clinical, genomic and reference datasets
• Architecting genomics workflow composition tools for web and desktop applications
• Architecting platform management components for bioinformatics data on AWS, GCP and Azure
• Lead Proof-Of-Concepts and Spike Solutions, and provide “Reference Architectures” and “Baseline Implementations” when appropriate
• Drive buy vs build evaluations, including consideration of Open Source Software solutions.

Do you have what it takes?

• Basic understanding of software development practices, ideally in one or more programming language and/or paradigms (Python, JavaScript, Java, Go)
• Desire to get hands-on exposure to interactive visualization and infographic development
• Passionate about bioinformatics, biomedical and clinical concepts
• Basic knowledge of version control systems and workflow (GitLab or GitHub)
• Have the desire to learn more about cloud services, like Amazon Redshift, Amazon Athena, Amazon EMR, Google BigQuery, Snowflake or related technologies
• Love working with best of breed technologies (Cloud, high throughput event processing, data analytics, etc.)
• Experienced with various types of software architectures including Microservice and Event Driven architectures
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Genuine curiosity and a constant strive to learn
