The Product Manager, Infrastructure is responsible for defining and maintaining enablers, user stories, and defects with your project and/or scrum team(s). You will lead the prioritization of the team backlog to streamline the execution of product priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the features. You are driven by a technical + customer- centric mindset meaning you place our users at the center of every decision and you balance those decisions with technical expertise, effort to implement, and cost optimization. You collaborate with a wide range of people to understand and modernize the developer experience, secrets management, and infrastructure. You are driven to become an expert in how the infrastructure serves to support our platform which enables Seven Bridges commercial and public programs as well as our line of SAAS products.

You will ensure that the solutions we build are valuable, viable, usable, and feasible. As a seasoned Product Manager, you will support the evolution of Seven Bridges by contributing to an empowered, product-driven organization through mentoring and team building. To this end, you will be responsible for one or more agile team backlogs and coaching your team in agile workflows and methodologies to foster a healthy flow of value.

The Product Manager, Infrastructure will serve as both a technical and customer proxy to devise solutions that are modular, reusable, hybrid, and pattern based. You’ll work closely with product management, engineering, architecture and design to define, clarify, and prioritize user stories in the team backlog. You’ll assist the team and the larger product domain with maintaining technical integrity, delivering value on time through quality releases with humane scoping. This is a Product Managership role that will execute technical solutions within an agile, continuous delivery across the software development life cycle. You’ll be working in a complex, big data ecosystem developed to drive breakthroughs in precision medicine meaning we support a wide array of public and commercial client data analysis and insights across Google Cloud, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure and local environments.

Primary Objectives

  • Work closely with engineering technical leads and team members to understand the current infrastructure.
  • Conduct user research to understand and document pain points.
  • Serve as a bridge amongst the Principal Product Manager, Engineering Tech Leads, Architect, Security & Compliance, Executive sponsorship, and Team members to devise scalable, cost-effective, and lasting infrastructure solutions.
  • Effectively communicate the proposed changes to infrastructure, its purpose, the problems it will solve, and the value proposition to impacted team members and secure buy-in and support..
  • Define, build, edit and maintain the team backlog (which consists of user stories, defects, and enablers) with input from your immediate and extended team members.
  • Prioritize user stories in the team backlog through the analysis of sequencing, operational efficiencies, profit drivers, business risks, user experience pain points, and cross-team dependencies.
  • Define and clarify the user stories in the team backlog in coordination and cooperation with agile team members and the Product Manager(s) working on the program ensuring there is
  • quality and security in the user stories.
  • an understanding and empathy for the user experience through participation in and consumption of customer insights and research.
  • ensure that the user stories solve real customer problems.
  • Collaborate with your team to articulate acceptance criteria which can be verified with user acceptance tests.
  • Work with your manager to make accurate tradeoffs decisions and communicate these tradeoffs effectively to impacted stakeholders.
  • Maximize the value produced by the team by ensuring the user stories meet the user’s needs as defined through acceptance criteria, and that they comply with the Definition of Done.
  • Cultivate a healthy backlog to support backlog refinement and prioritization as part of quarterly planning activities.
  • Lead story definition with your team and provide necessary clarification to assist the team with story estimates and sequencing.
  • Participate in team retrospectives to ensure that the team is consistently improving.

Organizational Objectives

  • Work closely with your team to determine the primary objectives for each quarterly planning cycle and communicate these objectives and the value they will bring to the company.
  • Collaborate with your team to prepare demos that demonstrate the delivered
  • Attend and participate in conversations about the infrastructure modernization product roadmap and vision to better understand the scope of upcoming enabler work.
  • Contribute to the evolution and refinement of the vision, roadmap and return on investment.

Do you have what it takes?

  • 5+ years of combined experience (education and professionally) working in software development, technical product management, and/or data management.
  • Will support 1-2 agile teams and pair with a Principal Product Manager, Infrastructure, Architect, and Engineering Tech Lead to become acquainted with the product domain.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing valuable products within an agile environment supporting at least 2 agile teams.
  • Formal education and mentorship responsibilities
  • Experience and proficiency with modern languages, frameworks, and technologies such as messaging queuing infrastructures, AWS or GCP cloud infrastructure and services
  • Knowledgeable of the design and development of complex systems, cloud infrastructure and hybrid services
  • Employs a disciplined and rigorous approach
  • Experience with microservices
  • Experience with distributed caching solutions; understands the factors that enable effective caching
  • Exposure to Big-Data and/or Machine Learning
