The city of Lafayette is home to not only a great opportunity, but varied experiences. Lafayette tech companies span the full gamut of the industry. Because the city is the home to Purdue University and in proximity to other large cities, Lafayette tech has tons to offer to anyone looking for a tech job in the Midwest.
In terms of large tech companies in Lafayette, Indiana, look to large organizations, such as the auto manufacturers SIA and Subaru, as well as the medtech enterprise Cook Biotech. There’s also space for traditional software companies like Skyepack, Arxan Technologies, and Mercury Systems, IT consulting positions at Accent Consulting and Purdue University, and insurtech jobs with Kirby Risk.
Lafayette, Indiana, also has several hospitals that provide the chance for IT and medtech jobs, both at IU Health Arnett Hospital and Franciscan Health.
Purdue University has scaled up quickly in the past decade to focus on profitability. With the financial success of companies like Purdue Pharma, the university received funding and completed the new Discovery Park research campus in 2004. Here, multidisciplinary research sparks innovation in every field it touches (which happens to be a lot). If you are interested in jobs with the Discovery Park, be sure to apply directly with Purdue University.
Ivy Tech Community College also has a sizable campus in Lafayette, providing stable opportunities for systems analysts and other IT professionals.
It wouldn’t be an emerging tech community without a party to go with it, right? One of the defining spaces for Lafayette’s tech events has been Matchbox Co-working Studio. Along with providing affordable office space to startups, the space is also for networking. Lafayette tech news can be discussed among contributors and employees in a social atmosphere. The space also has planned out two 12 week programs specializing in different developmental needs. One is for Venture Development, focusing on the tech side of product building, and the other is an Entrepreneur-focused class for scaling up companies.
As the Lafayette tech community grows, so too does the city. So it shouldn’t be any surprise that there are plenty of tech associations for new employees and entrepreneurs to join. Anyone moving to begin startup jobs in Lafayette will find plenty of avenues for support, whether from an entrepreneur side, an employee looking to contribute, or someone interested in investing in local companies. For example, Purdue University has its own Lafayette startup incubator, aimed to connect students, thinkers, and founders in the Greater Lafayette area with investors and experienced entrepreneurs.
